This category describes programs written to run under Apple Computer's Mac OS X. The primary programming language used is Objective-C using the Cocoa application framework. There are also native Java interfaces to Cocoa. The operating system is built on FreeBSD running on top of the Mach microkernel, so POSIX compilant programs are also easy to port.
